I am a GMC-registered doctor, a GP, in independent (private) practice in Hampshire. My qualifications are listed here, with explanations of what the various letters mean.
As as an independent doctor, I can offer comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnosis and treatment, with longer appointments. More time with my patients is important. It allows me the thinking space to put together a picture of their health, personality and timeline. It is something I longed for when I was an NHS GP.
Now, I can also focus on those areas of preventative medicine that are close to my heart:
- Hormonal and nutritional balance – bone health, mental acuity, managing vitamin D deficiency, menopause and andropause
- Medical management of overweight and obesity- reducing the risk of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, metabolic sydrome and much more.
- Immune health – identifying and helping to manage impaired immunity often from chronic stress, autoimmune conditions.
- Looking well while feeling and being well – medical skincare, injectables where safe and appropriate, with an identifiable benefit to the mind and body
I believe that being well is more than just “not being unwell”.
And I am not alone in thinking this: we are increasingly aware that chronic disease burden cannot be “fixed” by medication alone. We understand that over-medicating causes adverse effects and interactions. We can no longer deny that we need greater emphasis on improving nutrition, increasing physical activity and being mindful of our emotional well-being.
While I constantly update myself and keep a very open mind, I am wary of buzzwords on social media, PR generated infomercials, advertorials and hashtags. Over the years I have seen many health fads come and go, causing more harm and confusion than not.
So when my private patients choose me to advise them, it is my responsibility to consider their needs in the context of current medical evidence, valid guidance and Good Medical Practice. Read this as “I will not always tell you what you want to hear” – but rest assured that I will help you identify and manage the root cause of your symptoms. When this means signposting you to someone better qualified to address this problem for you, I will honestly advise you of this.
Essentially, I am dedicated to helping you take charge of your own health and wellbeing, to help you not only manage existing conditions and treat symptoms but also enable you to prevent the onset of disease. I want to help people at all stages of their health, whether that requires managing a chronic condition, a niggling concern or just helping a patient to feel better and have more energy for everyday life. I guide my patients to manage their own well-being before the onset of illness and/or help manage existing conditions beyond just prescriptions.
